I was born and raised in Hinsdale, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago.  I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics in 1978 from Rockford College, Rockford, Illinois.  I moved to northern Wisconsin in the fall of 1978 and married Cliff Schwaiger the following summer.  We have two children:  Merlin who lives and works in Minneapolis in computer software installations and customizations, and Kestrel who will be attending graduate school this fall in Berkeley, CA in Chemistry.
In June, 1990 my current business partner and I opened an accounting firm in Eagle River, Wisconsin.  I had been taking additional courses in accounting and sat for the CPA exam in the fall of 1995.  I received my CPA license the following spring.  Our firm has grown and we now employ 11 total accounting professionals and support staff, and maintain a satellite office in Minocqua, Wisconsin.
