MICHAEL J. JOHNS 17984 LOST TRAIL CHAGRIN FALLS, OH USA EMAIL: MJJandNLJ@aol.com Mike has been a member of the Rotary Club of Hillcrest since 1976, serving as President during 1980-81 and 2001-02. He is a multiple Paul Harris Fellow, a Benefactor of The Rotary Foundation, and a Level Three Member of the Bequest Society as well as a recipient of The Rotary foundation Citation for Meritorious Service. He has served Rotary District 6630 on numerous committees and as District Governor 1986-87. As Governor, he introduced the Polio-Plus Campaign, the Gift of Life program, and RYLA to the district. He was the District's Delegate to the Council on Legislation in 1992, 1998, and 2001. He served as District Trainer for five years, the Strategic Long Range Planning Committee, District Executive Committee, was the Coordinator for the Polio Plus Campaign and the Polio Eradication Fundraising Campaign, and organized the district delegation to the Chicago Centennial Convention. He served for several years on the steering committee for the All Ohio P.E.T.S. He has served on numerous Institute Committees for Zones 6, 8, and 12, and also for Zones 27 and 28, and was the General Chairman of the Zone Institute in 2000. He served on the Nominating Committee for Director from Zone 28 in 1998. Mike also served as a National Advisor to the Permanent Fund. In 1957, Mike entered the Cemetery Monument business in Cleveland, Ohio as a third generation memorialist when he joined his father's firm. He currently serves as President and CEO of The Johns-Carabelli Company, but the business is now managed by his son Michael and daughters Monica and Michelle. He has received international recognition and awards for his designs. He has served the associations, Monument Builders of Ohio, Monument Builders of North America and The American Institute of Commemorative Art (A.I.C.A.) as President. He currently serves as the president of the trustees for the A.I.C.A. Education Foundation. He is one of less than 100 people who have earned the Certified Memorialist designation of Monument Builders of North America, and is a Fellow of the A. I. C. A. He is a frequent seminar speaker in the death care industry. Mike and his deceased wife Nikki have two sons, four daughters and eleven grandchildren. He has served on the Parish Council of his church and is a Eucharistic Minister. He has served as a Scout Master and District Commissioner for the Greater Cleveland Council of Boy Scouts of America. He has coached youth baseball and football teams. He has also served on the Homeowners Association Board of Pilgrim Lake Colony where he and Nikki have lived since 1978, and currently serves as a member of the Architectural Review Committee. He has served on the board and as President of the Walden Golf and Country Club where he is a member. |
